Welcome to my December Entries. For the current month, please click on 'My Diary'
I actually feel like this now. The thought of a hangover is one if the greatest tools to stop me ever wanting to drink again! So let the sober fun begin! ..#Repost from @sobernseattle
Christmas is almost here and New Year is in sight, maybe you’re looking for some inspiration to keep you going, or maybe you’re at the beginning of your sober journey? .Both my books are available now, on Amazon, in paperback and on Kindle. Perfect reading for these long winter nights!
It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, you don’t have to explain your reasons for not drinking, but if you want to, that’s fine too!
Magical Christmas moments! We took our little one on the Santa Express today. It’s the little things I love the most, like being present and not feeling any rush to get home to do anything else, like drink. That feeling never gets old!!
What a lovely comment to read last night! Thank you @gail_winstanley - so good I had to #repost! •My bedtime read @soberme_claire really enjoying it..Being dyslexic i can spell but have trouble reading certain text. This book i'm reading easily and absorbing all the info because the text (for me) is great, i don't need my green screen. .I love the way Claire explains what alcohol does to us in a really simple and uncomplex way and i love that, we don't need to be blinded by science. .Thank you Claire
What a lovely evening! It’s very rare we get to go out all together now the kids are getting older and have their own things going on, and that’s fine, but it’s so nice to be able to do something with all four of them at once. The time has whizzed by and they’ve grown up far too quickly. It used to make me sad but now instead it makes me realise how lucky I am to be able to really enjoy the times we do spend together, and make memories. These photos were from The Night Garden at @heligangardens
I’m proud to be one of the senior coaches at @beesober.cic - contact me if you’d like to see how I can help you! 💖.https://www.beesoberofficial.com/.../claire-hatwell-bee.../
Well these are rather yummy! I’m not normally one for alcohol removed drinks but we bought some for Christmas and opened them tonight. I can safely say these are just fine without alcohol - I’ll definitely be buying some more!
#Repost from @its_lisajo•Super excited to get my hands on this! Thank you @soberme_claire that’s my Sunday evening sorted
Things go wrong… don’t beat yourself up. Instead, learn from it and move on. That’s what I’m doing!
Why would I want to go out for a drink, when I could go out for tea and cake with my little man? 💖🥰
At the start of my sober journey, when I first began to address my drinking problem, I was ashamed. I had no real reason to be, but I felt it anyway. I felt I’d let myself down and was scared of what people would think. It took me a long time to realise that the person who was most disappointed in me was myself. Eventually I began to realise that I could beat myself up and be hard on myself, but it wouldn’t change anything and it certainly wouldn’t make anything any better. .Slowly, I learned to be a bit kinder to myself and I got better. I began to write as a way to make sense of my feelings and eventually posted my thoughts on my blog. I was astounded as readers began to contact me, telling me their stories, and I realised that I wasn’t alone. .I’m five years sober now, and a lot more confident in my choices. I know not everyone will ‘get it’ but that’s probably more about them than it is about me. I speak out to help others and to show that there is no stereotypical addict, it can literally affect anyone..@phoenix_futures contacted me recently and I am proud to work with them to help break down the stigma around addiction. Talking about our experiences helps us make sense of our journey and the world. We don’t have to be ashamed, everything we experience changes us, but that isn’t always a bad thing.
Remember this because we can’t fight battles for anyone else. I know I wouldn’t have reacted well to being told not to drink. It was a lesson I had to learn for myself. It was a hard lesson, but one I wouldn’t change now, not for anything.
Hearing lovely things like this just makes everything worthwhile!
At Bee Sober CIC we have a great team of sober coaches, of which I am one. If you are interested, why not book a free consultation and see how we can help you?
My book, My Not So Secret Diary is still available for 99p but only until the 8th December, so grab it quick! My new book My Not So Secret Guide to Recovering is available for pre-order now too, ready to be released - I hope you like it!!
Getting and staying sober can be hard. So, when it’s tough, remember who you’re doing it for. Yes, of course it’s for you, and so it should be, but it’s also for them, because you’ll be more present, patient, available, calm and even tempered. You’ll show them what it’s like to struggle and to overcome. You show them that you are enough, and you don’t need to rely on something external for fun or relaxation. You show them you matter enough to try.
I know it’s not easy, in fact, if I’m honest, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but am I ever glad I did it? Yes, and now, I wouldn’t go back for anything! I wish they didn’t remember, in fact I wish I didn’t, but I can’t erase the past, so it’s best we all move on.
It’s a tricky time of year, but if we’re honest, there will always be a reason not to start, so just make a decision and stick to it. There is so much support out there for you, and so many people who want to help!
I’ve seen a lot of posts recently with sober coaches offering their services, so I’m not going to add to that, if you want me, you’ll know where to find me. I am going to tell you that my new book, My Not So Secret Guide to Recovering is out soon, and is almost ready for preorder, so watch this space!
Stay strong, and remember, it is worth all the hard work! Much love, Claire x
Another sober Friday night. We enjoyed late night shopping and the street entertainment as well as some nice food. I didn’t want to be anywhere else, and didn’t feel a rush to get home. These are the special moments, and I am so grateful I get to enjoy them more now.
Well this is a little bit exciting… My new book will be out on the 31st December but will be available soon for pre-order! .Don’t forget my first book is available for 99p on Kindle download, but only for this week so get it quick!
Remember this when you are doubting yourself or thinking what you are doing isn’t enough. Every day that you stay sober is amazing!
So beautifully put… this sums up everything I think about alcohol.
I’m feeling a bit proud of myself today! Two weeks ago I started Slimming World - I’ve never been one for groups -I find people intimidating, and yet this is different. It’s not a diet, it’s more of a reminder to eat healthily and I’m the one who benefits! I’ve actually rediscovered a love of cooking, and I’m really enjoying eating better and not snacking on all the stuff I’ve allowed myself because it’s better than wine! I’d post photos of the food I cool but my presentation needs a little work!
